Chairman Bao Rongqing Paid a Visit to Professor Guo Yike, the Big Data Specialist(2017-7-4)

On June 23, 2017, Mr. Bao Rongqing, the Chairman of Shanghai Asian Insurance Brokers Co. Ltd., paid a visit to Professor Guo Yike, the world famous big data specialist, Tenured Professor of the Imperial College London, and the Director of the Data Science Institute of the Imperial College London, and also visited the world’s largest data visualization facilities – “Global Data Observatory”.

The Data Science Institute of the Imperial College London led by Professor Guo is the top brand institution in big data researches all over the world. In October 2015, President Xi Jinping and his wife Ms. Peng Liyuan visited and surveyed the Data Science Institute and listened to the thematic report delivered by Professor Guo Yike.

During the visit, Professor Guo made a detailed introduction to Chairman Bao on the fundamental status as well as the recent researches of the Institute, and also showed the operational mechanism and the great value of the big data by the onsite dynamic demonstration. Chairman Bao introduced the recent development of the “Third Party Safety Monitoring Platform of the Traffic Transportation Industry” to Professor Guo, and communicated with him on the future application of the urban traffic big data. Both sides expressed their expectations to the future cooperation in the fields of traffic big data.

Since the launch of SAIB’s “Third Party Safety Monitoring Platform of the Traffic Transportation Industry”, it has had a significantly positive meaning for the safety management of Shanghai traffic transport industry. That mode has been rapidly duplicated and promoted all over the country, and that is also a live case in which the traffic big data has applied and worked effectively in the urban traffic management. As the pathfinder of the application of the urban traffic big data, SAIB will continuously explore the dimension of the application of those data and to carry out more cooperation as well as communications with those big data research institutions within China and abroad to provide more sufficient support to the urban traffic safety.
