SAIB attended the Signing Ceremony of Cooperation Agreement on Huangpu District Catastrophe Insurance(2018-5-30)

On the morning of May 29th 2018, The Signing Ceremony of Cooperation Agreement on Huangpu District Catastrophe Insurance was held at Huangpu District Government, which marks the start of Shanghai Catastrophe Insurance Pilot Project in Huangpu district. District Mayor Gao Yun, and Director General of CIRC Shanghai Bureau Pei Guang attended the signing ceremony. As the risk consultant of this project, SAIB Chairman Bao Rongqing joined in the ceremony as well.

In order to ensure the standardization and orderly implementation of Shanghai catastrophe insurance pilot project, Huangpu district chose SAIB as the risk consultant of catastrophe insurance through open tendering. Through the open tendering, the district government also picked CPIC Shanghai branch as the leading insurer and Ping An Shanghai branch and PICC Shanghai branch as co-insurer. As the applicant of the policy, Huangpu district government would pay the premium by their fiscal payment. It is an important institutional innovation in Huangpu district to strengthen the public security management of megacities and improve the city’s ability to withstand risks through the catastrophe insurance pilot scheme. The catastrophe insurance pilot scheme this time has insisted on the principal of government leading, market operating, multi-layer safeguard, and risk-sharing. It surly helps to improve the ability in Huangpu district disaster rescue and disaster prevention security. Meanwhile, it also played an important role in promoting the innovative development of insurance industry in Shanghai and the construction of Shanghai international insurance center.

As the risk consultant of this pilot scheme, SAIB has given a full play to the launch of the catastrophe insurance through its professional advantages in urban security data accumulation, risk management technology research and development & disaster relief system construction. In the future, SAIB will continue to improve the city’s social governance capacity and financial reform and innovation whereas help to promote the pilot insurance scheme to the whole city.
