SAIB attended the proposal reviewing meeting of “Research on Risk Identification and Insurance Practice of Autonomous Driving” (2019-08-29)

On August 23, 2019, the proposal reviewing meeting of “Research on Risk Identification and Insurance Practice of Autonomous Driving” was held at Institute for Urban Risk Management of Tongji University. As the council member of the institute and one of the main participants of this project, SAIB attended the meeting and the Chief Strategy Officer of SAIB Mr. Ji Yisheng spoke on behalf of the company.

This project will focus on risks of autonomous driving and the corresponding insurance system. Mr. Zhou Yanli, member of the national committee of CPPCC and Former Vice Chairman of China Insurance Regulatory Commission and Mr. Sun Jianping, Dean of Institute for Urban Risk Management of Tongji University attended the meeting and made important speeches. At the meeting, SAIB put forward reasonable opinions and suggestions on the follow-up study of the project combined with the company’s long-term accumulated experience in insurance and vehicle accident prevention, and exchanged ideas and opinions with the research team members and other expert group members. In addition, during the preparation stage, SAIB also assisted the research team in systematically sorting out the insurance products of autonomous vehicle, relevant laws and policies and experimental scenarios, and provide foreign materials via the convenient international channels of UK subsidiary.

SAIB has always been paying close attention to the practical application and theoretical research of insurance and other risk control measures in the field of traffic safety. It not only accumulated rich experience in insurance related fields such as auto insurance, carrier liability insurance and accident insurance, but also has a third-party safety monitoring platform for transportation, which is the largest domestic platform officially authorized by the government. Nowadays, ICTs is accelerating integration with the automotive industry. Autonomous driving has become the wind vane of industry’s research and development, and its safety issue is one of the hot topics to be concerned. By actively participating in the research, SAIB will further enhance its own capabilities, and provide stronger support for the stable development of the domestic automobile industry and transportation safety.
