Meet head-on “Du Suri” and “Kanu”, SAIB Cruise Insurance Service starts(2023-10-20)

In May 2023, the international routes of Shanghai Cruise Port officially restarted. With the arrival of the typhoon season in recent days, the fifth typhoon “Du Suri” and the sixth typhoon “Kanu” had successively made effect in Shanghai. The service team from Shanghai  Asian Insurance Brokers’ Cruise Cancellation and Delay Comprehensive Insurance (hereinafter referred to as “cruise insurance”) has made great efforts on claim service with rigorous and professional attitude.

Since the issuance of typhoon warning from meteorological department, Shanghai Asian Insurance Brokers Co.,Ltd(hereinafter referred to as “SAIB”) promptly initiated an emergency plan for cruise insurance services. Considering the intensity of Typhoons “Du Suri” and “Kanu,” as well as their impact on intensive voyages, SAIB supplemented staff based on its existing service team led by the deputy general manager, comprising Party members and League members. Simultaneously, we set up eight 24-hour hotlines, launched an optimized and upgraded online claim service system, and made full preparations for claim services on the site of Wusong International Cruise Terminal. Furthermore, SAIB kept communication with China Pacific Property Insurance Co., Ltd., Shanghai Branch and cruise companies to ensure smooth operation of claim handling. Currently, SAIB is putting great efforts on claim handling and consulting service for two voyages on the date of 27th July and 3rd Aug affected by Typhoons “Du Suri” and “Kanu”. So far, our service team has received over 300 hotlines along with more than 1500 online inquiries and is expected to serve more than 1700 tourists. The prompt response and professional services provided by SAIB have received positive feedback from both cruise industry and cruise passengers.

Currently, Shanghai is going through the peak season of typhoons while the world is also suffering from the impact of extreme weather . International cruise companies such as MSC, Royal, Princess and Norwegian have recently announced their plans to resume international routes from Shanghai Cruise Port, which will increase pressure and pose challenges for cruise insurance services. Moving forward, SAIB will continue to integrate our service team with full dedication and spirit to face these challenges head-on. We will keep our original mission firmly in mind to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of consumers and ensure normal operations for cruise companies. Our goal is to make new contributions on the sound development of China’s cruise industry as well as the construction of Shanghai International Shipping Center.
